Recognition of Workplace Skills

Recognition of workplace skills is one of the minimum qualifications accepted for registering for AMF examinations in the following sectors:

  • Insurance of persons

  • Group insurance of persons

If you have pertinent professional experience, you may apply for recognition of workplace skills to compensate for the lack of the level of education required (13 years) to register for the examinations in the above sectors.

To be eligible for this career path, you must hold one or more diplomas, such as a secondary school diploma (SSD), an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary V Studies (AESS) or a diploma of vocational studies (VSD).

You must also have compensating employment skills in the distribution of financial products and services or as an entrepreneur acquired in the 8 years preceding this application on the basis of a minimum of 30 hours per week for a period of at least 10 months out of 12.

For individuals with pertinent skills, the AMF may recognize employment experience to compensate for the lack of the 13 years of education required to register for the examinations. Each missing half-year of education may be compensated by one year of experience.
