Level of Education Equivalent to a DCS

A level of education equivalent to a diploma of collegial studies meets the minimum qualification requirements in order to register for AMF exams in the following sectors and their sector classes:

  • Damage insurance

  • Claims adjustment

  • Insurance of persons

  • Group insurance of persons

If you do not hold a diploma of collegial studies (DCS), but you have completed courses as part of a training program recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, the AMF may credit you for such training toward an attestation of studies equivalent to 13 years of education.

This level of education is calculated starting with basic education, namely, at least a secondary school diploma (SSD) or a Diploma of vocational studies (DVS) or an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary V Studies (AESS). Such basic education credits the holder for 11 years of education. For any other submitted transcripts that attest to other studies, the AMF then adds one or more years of education, according to the system of reference, applicable to the additional education.

To apply for a recognition of education equivalent to a DCS, you must:

  • complete the required form;

  • submit a transcript confirming that you hold any of the three required certificates (SSD, DVS or AESS);

  • submit transcripts confirming that you successfully completed other studies that may be considered in calculating the years of education based on the system of reference.
